| What is Organic? WHY buy it ? From Whom? |
Certified Organic means that production practices have been employed that meet or exceed governmental standards. In each case an inspection and proof are undergone by that organization which allows them to display a certain symbol. Most well known one is the USDA symbol (circle with USDA in the top half and organic in the lower half.) Smaller groups are not required to undergo inspection and proof, but are allow to referr to their products as "organic." They may not display the seal or symbol. Patti's Gifts does the herb drying in our mid-western colder months and grows fresh herbs during the warmer months. Currently, sage, mint, lavender, oregano, basil, rosemary, calamint, parsley, thyme, dandelion, cilantro, pleurisy root, valarian, lemon verbena, lemon balm, chocolate-mint, bergamot, dill, chive, aloe, hops, yarrow, angelica, santolina and more is now growing. More variety will, in 2011, be added along with this collection. God willing! Much of these are used inside our sewn homeopathic products They are all organic in nature. They are beautiful and sweet to smell. Lavender and lemon thyme are my favorites this year. WOW!

Within weeks herbs will be ready for use. Dill, coriander, parsley, cat grass, rosemary, mint, sage, spicy basil, lavender, chive, wild spring onion, thyme and some veggies are tender shoots of tasty delights and heavenly aroma. Strawberries and raspberries are greening up. Wild dandelion blossoms have emerged. Pick yours as I will to dry for a spring healthy tea to cleanse and feel sleepy, so drink it in the evening mixed with a tad of jasmine. Yummy!!
